photography? gcse’s ect needed? courses in uk,birmingham?

i like in the uk (near birmingham) and was wondering what/how many gcse’s you need for doing photography? and if anyone knows of any courses for it near birmingham (i’m 15) i love photography, i have a very creative mind and have been told i’m very good at it thanks x

When I went to college I had no GCSE’s in relation to photography. I just needed to get the grads I needed to get into the college itself. I studied media as my major and did photography as a subsidiary, as time went on I took on more photography and combined the two to make them both my majors, I went on to University to study photography and gained my BA (Hons) in the subject – all without needing any specific GCSE’s for photography I think a major thing they look for when entering onto courses is your passion for the subject. As far as I know there are no specific subjects you need to get onto a photography course at college, but it may be worth putting together a small portfolio to show your interest in the subject.
Unfortunately I am not near Birmingham so I cannot comment on your other question, but there are usually photography groups/societies in different areas that may be useful to join. As for actual courses you may find that your nearest college do full time and part time courses Hope that helps and good luck
